Challenge:

Remodel a small outdated kitchen and open it up to adjacent rooms for entertaining; resolve logistical and structural issues to achieve goal. Turn an outmoded 1940s bath into an inviting grotto for bathing.

Solution:

Kitchen: Remove walls between small spaces to create a beautiful and functional great room. The kitchen is incorporated into the living space using furniture-like walnut cabinetry to minimize appearance of appliances; a Calacatta marble topped island is perfect for gathering, working or prepping. Modern and vintage furnishings mixed with color accents pop against a neutral warm backdrop. Bath: Replace a small shower niche with ample cabinet storage. Replace a seldom used bathtub with a large shower for two. Full-height tile walls expand the space; a teak vanity adds warmth.
